About Your Role
As a Public Relations Intern at YBIMC, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape and execute communications strategy for world-class brands. You will work on public relations and experiential marketing, showcasing your capabilities with project management, media monitoring, and reporting, as well as developing your skills and building strong relationships among journalists and influential voices to heighten reach and relevance through earned media.
As a Public Relations Intern at YBIMC, you are accountable for:
• Helping develop press releases, as well as internal and external communication documents on behalf of clients, including but not limited to public announcements, press briefings and interview prep.
• Conducting daily media monitoring for clients and competitors, developing media clippings, and sharing insights and reports with the team.
• Staying up to date on media research tools, metrics, and being well versed about the North American media landscape.
• Helping develop strategic and strong PR campaigns and messaging, creating unique and compelling stories, campaigns and event ideas for our clients’ brands and products, securing visibility and press coverage such as brand features, as well as placements in top national, regional, and online media outlets.
• Developing strong database(s) relevant to PR goals, brands, and target customer segments, and learning how to build and grow relationships with key media and influencers.
• Working cross-functionally with other departments to add value for our clients and the agency. Brainstorming creative ideas, supporting with existing and new client pitching.

What We’re Looking For
• Relevant training in media and public relations. On the job experience (field placements and internships) will be considered an asset.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; a proven record of securing earned media, and drafting corporate communications for press releases, pitches, advisories, and one-to-one journalist outreach will be considered an asset.
• Candidate must be detail-oriented and able to handle various projects simultaneously.
• Understanding of public relations tools such as Meltwater, MRP, Cision & Muck Rack, and demonstrable understanding of the Canadian media landscape
• A passion for consuming media in all forms.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; a proven record of securing earned media, and drafting corporate communications for press releases, pitches, advisories, and one-to-one journalist outreach will be considered an asset.
