Fly Fishing Excursion with Victorinox

From Urban to Outdoor

Showcasing how Victorinox products help Canadians prepare for everyday urban adventures, YOUR BRAND developed an interactive brand experience for seven media influencers, who participated in an action-packed day of fly fishing along the Credit River in Erindale Park, Mississauga, Ontario. The summer 2019 adventure included a morning of fly fishing, led by fly fishing expert Aldo Pescatore and The SoFly Crew, and picnic lunch prepared by notable Canadian chef, Matt Demille. The day provided plenty of engagement with Victorinox product lines, including travel gear, cutlery, and the ultimate survival tool – the Swiss Army Knife! Even though the fish didn’t bite, plenty of stories were shared across the influencers’ social channels, with tales of casting the perfect fly with Victorinox.

SO FLY // With the Fisherman Swiss Army Knife in my pocket and fly fishing rod in the other, I managed to learn how to fly fish 🎣 in a day at the @victorinox experience with the @thesoflycrew. The crazy thing is that we were able to do it all in the burbs of Mississauga's Erindale Park if you can believe it!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🤔 First I gotta say that fly fishing is definitely not as easy it looks. It’s not just about casting a line into the water but since the rod’s construction is totally different since there aren’t any weights or bobbers, it becomes this carefully choreographed movement of loading the line as you pull back while releasing more line, swinging forward and repeating this a couple of times until you’ve built up enough momentum and length to get it to where you want it to go. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🐟 What’s nice about fly fishing is that it’s pretty engaging in that you don’t just cast it out and wait. Since you’re on swiftly running river, you set your line upriver and in a matter of seconds it’s gotta be reeled in. Being out in nature and the repetition of it all was quite therapeutic and calming because you were truly disconnected. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🧰 With the Fisherman series of the Swiss Army Knife, we were able to use the scissors to cut the line when I errm 😅 got my line caught in a rock. The tweezer was helpful in maneuvering our lure through the knot we needed to tie, and I also pretended to de-scale a fish with the de-scaler built in - let's call it air de-scaling. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🔱 So what about YOU? Do you fly fish or have you attempted to try it? Also, I'd love to also hear about what your favourite Swiss Army Knife tool is? Is it the bottle opener? screw driver? or...toothpick??⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🔗 Check out the link in bio to learn more about the extensive range of products Victorinox actually has. They're more than just the Swiss Army Knife and in fact, for travellers, there's a ton of wicked gear that I think you're going to love 😍 including backpacks, passport holders, watches, luggage, and more!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 📸 Photography by @georgepimentel1⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ #sponsored #myvictorinox #swissarmyknife #victorinox #goingawesomeplaces #flyfishing #thesoflycrew #flyfishingontario #flyfishingcanada
